Skill Development
The Government alone cannot accomplish this task and it calls for a concerted effort of the Government, private players and NGOs to work in tandem to skilling the employable youth. AIEMA, in association with Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC), has been conducting free training courses for unemployed Rural Youth from the year 2014. So far, more than 1400 candidates have been trained in our facility, with a creditable placement record. With the experience gained, AIEMA has made great strides in developing the infrastructure required for training such as classrooms and labs and have up-scaled the capacity to mobilise and train candidates in larger projects from TNSDC. We have sought the assistance of the Director, Department of Employment & Training to allot more candidates for training at ASDC with a view to supplying as many trained candidates as possible to our member units.
Government of India through Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and the Directorate General of Training (DGT) is focused on Skill Development and is keen on promoting apprenticeship in MSME. DGT has initiated a project named STRIVE – “Skills Strengthening for Industrial Value Enhancement” – a new World Bank funded project and has been approved by the Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) of the Government. The project falls under the Program for Results (P4R) based category of World Bank that ensures outcome based funding. It aims at creating awareness through industry clusters that would address the challenge of involvement of Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in giving apprenticeship training.

The Project also aims at integrating and nhancing the delivery quality of the training institutions. Implementation of the STRIVE project by IEMA – the first Industry Cluster chosen from Tamil Nadu. To overcome the main drawback of the lack of own Basic Training facility normally faced by MSME, we have created a Common Basic Training centre in its premises for the benefit of member units to promote apprenticeship in CNC / VMC programming & operation, in addition to spacious class rooms and has opted for training programmes in the STRIVE oject. Our aim is to add more of specialized or need-based courses in the near future.
